Astros Notch 2-1 Win Versus Rays
|
Princeton wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Mike Buchman, falling to the Greeneville Astros, 2-1. Buchman threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Matt Myers in relief, making him now 1-0. Mike Buchman took the loss for Princeton. Shungo Shimizu was credited with the save for Greeneville, his 9th of the season.
Greeneville used a clutch hit from Hideki Nagao to get the win. The shortstop drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Astros ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Nagao told the Greeneville Observer. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
Greeneville sits in first place in the West at 41-12.
