Boston (Rk+) pinch hitter Trey McAlary was a significant contributor in his team's 6-2 triumph over the Elizabethton Twins. He went 1-1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Red Sox. Luis Guevara picked up the win in relief. Brent Markle took the loss for Elizabethton. At 35-22, the Red Sox claim second place in the East.

McAlary had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-1 fastball from David Donovan, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Red Sox a 6-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for McAlary.

Said losing manager Franklin Jimenez: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
