The Bristol Pirates had to weather a strong performance from Burlington pitcher Tony de Lara before claiming a 3-2 win in 10 innings. de Lara went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Andy Levings, who is tied for 2nd in the APP in saves with 11, was the winner in relief. His record is now 4-3. The losing pitcher was Alex Barahona. The Pirates saw their win-loss record go to 39-20. At the same time, the Royals fell to 36-23.

Bristol used the timely hitting of Brent McClendon to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pirates on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Burlington manager Danny Ortiz.
