Twins Take Down Pirates, 6-5
|
People outside the ballpark no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.
Elizabethton beat Bristol at Joe O'Brien Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Justin Baker. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Elizabethton reliever Ian van der Ploeg picked up the win, raising his record to 2-5. Sal Amaro was tagged with the loss.
The Twins relied on designated hitter Jason Miller for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
"Big win," said Baker.
Elizabethton, at 25-35, holds down 4th place in the West.
