Red Sox Overwhelm Orioles, 14-4
|
The Boston Red Sox cruised to a win over the Baltimore Orioles, 14-4, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Rick Baylor, who is tied for 10th in the AL in stolen bases with 14, led the way, going 3-for-5 for Boston. Joe Figgs got the win, improving to 2-4. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Boston has a record of 19-38, placing them last in the American League East Division.
Baylor had a key at-bat for Boston in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Boston an early 6-2 lead.
"We hit the ball on the barrel," said Boston manager Michael Meagher.
