The Red Sox got a big boost from first baseman Angel Gonzales who had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the first inning off Braves hurler Jesus Amezcua. It was his 4th RBI of the season and put Boston (Rk+) on top, 1-0.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Danville skipper Jairo Escobar, "and it cost us."

The Red Sox saw their win-loss record go to 32-31. At the same time, the Braves fell to 31-31.
