Losing Trend Continues for Bluefield

Will Mueller pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Bluefield Blue Jays, despite Mueller's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Greeneville Astros at Pioneer Park. Chris Parry was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-2. The losing pitcher was Will Mueller. Alex Quiroga, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
Had Alvin Busch not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Busch hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Astros.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Bluefield manager Nate Todaro.
The Astros win now puts them at 27-34.
