Braves Pull Off Thrilling 3-1 Win in Extras
|
The Danville Braves earned a close win over the Elizabethton Twins, thanks in part to Ron Burke. The Danville right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the APP with a 10.1 K/9 rate, played a key role in the 10-inning, 3-1 victory. Ryan Meier, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Kamar Patterson closed out the game, earning his 5th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Miles Martin? The 23-year old second baseman Martin stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Danville up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Our team showed some gumption," said Martin. "I like it."
The 5th-place Braves bumped their record to 30-31.
