Cardinals Pin 2-1 Loss on Blue Jays
|
In a low-scoring game between the Johnson City Cardinals and the Bluefield Blue Jays, pitcher Chuck Bannon was masterful on the mound. The Johnson City right-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Bannon got the win, improving to 6-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Johnson City has run its win streak to 8 straight.
Rafael Luque was 1 for 3 with a walk for Johnson City. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Danny Perez. It was his 19th walk of the season.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Bannon told the Johnson City Chronicle. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
