Joe O'Brien Field was the site for Appalachian League action featuring the Bristol Pirates and Elizabethton Twins.

The Elizabethton Twins took Bristol pitcher Bubba Darnall's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Joe O'Brien Field. The final score had Elizabethton getting past the Pirates, 2-0. Darnall went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 6. The winner in relief was Jim Unknown. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0.

In the bottom of the third, 20-year old center fielder John Rogeiro hit a 2-run double. The 8th double of the season for the Elizabethton center fielder put the Twins on top, 2-0.

"Our pitching was the difference tonight," Rogeiro said.

Elizabethton now has a record of 38-34 with the win.
