Pirates Top Mets, 5-3
|
The Bristol Pirates and Kingsport Mets completed their game despite the rain.
Bristol parlayed a decent outing from starter Chuck Ricci into a solid win over the Kingsport Mets. The final score was 5-3. The Pirates saw their record improve to 27-40.
Chris Buckingham had a big 2-run home run for the Pirates in the bottom of the second inning. With Bristol trailing 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Fernando Tarango and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Pirates on top, 2-1.
"I thought he pitched pretty well," said Bristol manager Jason de Jong. "Chuck did his part."
