Vargas Lifts Phillies to 7-4 Triumph
|
The 7-4 Philadelphia win over Houston was due largely to Vicente Vargas. The Phillies right fielder hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jason Hunter picked up the save for Philadelphia, his 13th of the year. The victory gives Philadelphia a record of 32-25.
Philadelphia used the bat of Pete Ray to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Phillies ahead, 7-4. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Vargas, "and then get after it again."
