Giants Fall to Blue Jays, 3-2
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays had to overcome a good performance from San Francisco (Rk+) pitcher Robert Valencia to claim a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Anchorage. Valencia went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Mike Bourque snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-4 on the season. Andy Monroy suffered the loss. Aaron Hoagland closed the door for Bluefield, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Bluefield used the timely hitting of John Johnson to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Chris Aversa.
With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 26-41.
