Mark Pellicano, who is tied for 2nd in the APP with a 1.63 ERA, never let the Royals get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his sinker, to pitch the Giants to a win, 4-0. San Francisco (Rk+)'s record now stands at 33-34, placing them second in the East.

The Royals had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Giants going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old left fielder Jose Serna came to the plate. Serna hit a bases-clearing triple on a 1-2 cutter from Burlington hurler Jose Vasques. It was Serna's 4th triple of the year.

"I managed to get ahead of guys and keep them at bay," said Pellicano.
