Giants Claim 6-0 Triumph
|
The Bluefield Blue Jays had their hands full with San Francisco (Rk+) Giants starter Doug Martin, who frustrated Bluefield hitters while leading San Francisco (Rk+) to a comfortable, 6-0 win. Ossie Cabrera, credited with the save, is now 4 for 7 in save opportunities. The win makes San Francisco (Rk+) 25-44.
The Giants got a big at-bat from designated hitter Julio Villarreal. For the game, Villarreal went 1 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 16th double of the season gave San Francisco (Rk+) a 1-0 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," Villarreal told the San Francisco (Rk+) Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
