The San Diego (Rk+) Padres got a sterling performance from pitcher Cortez de la Garza, but the Kingsport Mets still prevailed, 3-0. de la Garza threw 6.2 innings allowing 3 runs. Kingsport reliever Juan Saavedra snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Cortez de la Garza shouldered the loss. The win hiked the Kingsport record to 41-34.

Kingsport used a well-timed hit by Taylor Cave to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cave said.
