Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Mets
The Kingsport Mets racked up a win at Ballpark of Cool Valley, bumping off the Boston (Rk+) Red Sox, 7-2, in 10 innings. Tommy Owens, who started for Kingsport, pitched effectively for his team. Kingsport reliever Matt Perez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Eli Villarreal was saddled with the loss. The Mets, at 45-29, sit in third place in the West.

Kevin Lopp provided a timely hit. The Kingsport second baseman delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mets on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"Nervous? No," said Lopp. "It was my time to shine."
