Monroe Helps Blue Jays Beat Braves, 8-3
|
The first-place Toronto Blue Jays picked up another win.
The Toronto Blue Jays stopped the Atlanta Braves, 8-3, at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays got a big game from Tom Monroe, who went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Toronto starter Yuji Fujii was credited with the win after throwing 94 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-2.
With Toronto leading 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth, Monroe hit a sinker from Mitchell Scott for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead, 8-3.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Monroe.
The American League East Division-leading Blue Jays are 41-16.
