Mets Raise Rally Flag, Beat Bluefield, 2-1

The Kingsport Mets did just enough to sneak past the Bluefield Blue Jays, 2-1, at Hunter Wright Stadium. Kingsport designated hitter Steve Brooks, in particular, had a standout performance. Kingsport reliever Travis Rowe was the winner. His record is now 4-1. The losing pitcher was Joe McCormick. Kingsport's record now stands at 57-19, placing them second in the West.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Kingsport first baseman Rafael Gil, facing Joe McCormick, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Mets the 2-1 win.
Brooks called the win "a team effort."
