Kingsport third baseman Mike Peetz had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Peetz slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Bluefield beat the Mets, 8-5. The winner in relief was Roberto Ramirez. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. Bluefield, at 41-36, occupies third place in the East.

Bluefield used a well-timed hit by Alfonso Ernesto to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"Good to pick up this win," Ernesto said.
