Riding the 2-hit performance of the 22-year old center fielder Ernesto Rios, the Kingsport Mets stopped the Boston (Rk+) Red Sox, 7-2. Jimmy Skuza earned the win to go to 1-4. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. The 6th-place Mets now have a win-loss record of 36-40.

With Kingsport leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Rios hit a fastball from Gerardo Armendariz for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Mets ahead, 3-0.
