In Extras, Guardians Beat Rays, 6-5
|
The Cleveland Guardians outlasted the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-5, in 10 innings. Jake Henson led the way, going 4-for-5 for Cleveland. Brad Danforth, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Cleveland sits in last place in the American League Central Division at 25-34.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 26-year old catcher Jordan Sandoval. Sandoval had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 6-5. For the game, Sandoval had 1 double and 2 singles in 3 at-bats.
"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant Danny Jaime, the Cleveland skipper.
