Cincinnati Dealt 6-3 Defeat
|
The St. Louis Cardinals cut down the Cincinnati Reds by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Henry Fraser. Fraser was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Cardinals. The save went to Brian Hawkins, his 3rd this season. St. Louis is now 29-31, while Cincinnati is 31-29.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Cardinals first baseman Kyle Stewart hit a cutter from Paul Edler for a 2-run single. Just like that, St. Louis was up, 3-2.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said St. Louis manager Leyland Thomas.
