Cubs Lose to Reds, 4-1
|
Chicago got a decent performance from pitcher Aaron Hosey, but it wasn't enough to beat the Cincinnati Reds. Cincinnati won the Great American Ball Park contest, 4-1. Hosey threw 6.1 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. Paul Edler notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 4-0. Dusty Plummer finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Cincinnati took a 3-1 lead on Jonathan Nelson's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Nelson hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Chicago pitcher Aaron Hosey visibly frustrated.
"Bottom line," said Chicago skipper Vin Calia, "we didn't play well enough to win."
The National League Central Division-leading Reds are 40-21.
