Detroit Defeated By Royals, 5-2
|
Kansas City pitcher Mike Mask did his part in helping his team beat the Detroit Tigers, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Mask, now 6-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Zach Stout, number 4 for him.
The Royals got a big at-bat from second baseman Fernando Andino. For the game, Andino was 1 for 1 with a double. In the top of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead.
"We have a lot of confidence in Mike," said Kansas City manager Connor Gould.
With the win, Kansas City pushed its record to 31-30.
