Twins Lose to Tigers, 4-1
|
The Detroit Tigers picked up a win at Comerica Park, knocking off the Minnesota Twins, 4-1. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Alex Garza. He played a key role in the triumph. Garza yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 4-5. Scott Duree recorded the save for Detroit, his 15th of the season.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Dustin Roberts. For the game, Roberts was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Detroit a 3-1 lead.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Garza.
The Twins have now dropped 5 straight.
