Seattle Stymied by Los Angeles, 2-0
|
Los Angeles got a first-rate effort from pitcher Jim Hoppock, who frustrated Seattle hitters en route to a 2-0 Angels triumph at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Hoppock, the winner, moves to 4-4. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk. Randy Lamb was called on to finish, recording his 7th save.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Seattle trailing 2-0, Randy Lamb needed to get a big out. On a 2-2 fastball, Brad Bargfrede, who is on pace for 69 RBI this season, flied out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
The last-place Angels go to 13-49.
