Visiting Athletics Beat White Sox, 5-4
|
The Oakland Athletics beat the Chicago White Sox, 5-4, at U.S. Cellular Field. The win was due in part to left fielder Blake Zobel, who was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The save went to Nick Rodriquez, number 15 for him. At 36-27, the Athletics are currently second in the American League West Division.
Pete Ray, who led the NL in RBI with 126 in 2101, helped out the Oakland cause in the top of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles.
Oakland manager Brett Doane was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
