Blue Jays Come Back Late to Top Yankees, 6-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees, 6-3, at Yankee Stadium today. Leading the charge for Toronto was center fielder John Slaff. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ivan Juarez notched his 3rd save in 4 chances. The Blue Jays, at 38-24, sit in first place in the American League East Division.
Slaff had a timely hit for Toronto in the top of the eighth. With New York trailing 3-2, he turned a 2-1 cutter into a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Toronto.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Slaff told the Toronto Times. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
