New York Beats Cleveland in Extra Innings
|
The New York Mets racked up a win at Progressive Field, bumping off the Cleveland Guardians, 4-3, in 10 innings. Jorge Chavez, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. New York reliever Chris Tresidder was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-3. Pablo Iglesias took the loss for Cleveland. John Rood earned the save, his 16th, for the Mets.
Kevin King came through with a big-time hit for New York. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We did enough to win," said King.
New York is in 4th place in the National League East Division with a record of 25-37.
