Guardians Rally to Eke Out Win
The Guardians earned a hard-fought, 5-4 win in 11 innings at Progressive Field. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Las Vegas pitcher Dustin Walker. Walker went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Cleveland reliever Manny Castro snagged the win, upping his record to 2-3. Rick Whitley shouldered the loss. Cleveland is last in the American League Central Division with a record of 24-38.

The decisive blow was delivered by Eduardo Roman in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 40-year old right-handed pitcher Rick Whitley to win the game for Cleveland. The home crowd went nuts.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Guardians manager Mike Nichols.
