In a tension-filled contest between the Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers, pitcher Fred Szilagyi was superb. The Los Angeles right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the AL with a 2.68 ERA, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Mike James locked down his 9th save. The Angels win now puts them at 36-28.

Ed Miller, who is tied for 7th in the AL in extra base hits with 31, had a direct impact on the outcome. Miller contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-1.

"I was a little disappointed," said Texas manager Stephen Gesualdi. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
