It might have been a rain-shorted game, but the hometown crowd didn't seem to mind.

Danny Blanchard led Cincinnati to a win over Pittsburgh. The final score was 8-4. The third baseman had a huge performance. He whacked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Reliever Kyle Dellinger picked up the win. His record improves to 3-1. Marcelino Ramires took the loss.

Allan Alessi had a big solo home run for the Reds in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cincinnati leading 5-4 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Marcelino Ramires and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 6-4.

Blanchard attributed the triumph to "a good team effort."

After today's action, Cincinnati sits at 38-27; Pittsburgh slips to 43-21.
