Pirates Need Extra Frames to Get Past Reds
The Pittsburgh Pirates needed 15 innings to beat the Cincinnati Reds, 11-10, at PNC Park. The win was due in part to designated hitter Kurt Villarreal, who hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Pittsburgh reliever Matt Young picked up the win to move to 5-3. Luis Boyd suffered the loss. The first-place Pirates lifted their record to 41-23.

The Pirates got a clutch hit from shortstop Jorge Moreno. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Pirates.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Villarreal.
