Cleveland Upended by San Diego, 7-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Cleveland Guardians and San Diego Padres get after it.
The San Diego Padres took Cleveland pitcher Nick Wise's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Pound at Seaport Village. The final score had San Diego getting past the Guardians, 7-3. Wise went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 7. San Diego reliever Matt Magruder was the winner. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Nick Wise.
San Diego took the lead, 5-3, on Ray Parker's 14th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Cleveland pitcher Joseph Fisher in the bottom of the seventh.
"The team always comes first," Parker told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
San Diego now sports a record of 37-27.
