White Sox Prevail, 4-2, Over San Francisco
|
The Chicago White Sox defeated the San Francisco Giants, 4-2, in American League action at AT&T Park. Chicago pitcher Jim Tant had a standout performance. Tant, now 5-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Matthew Emerson closed the door for Chicago, picking up his 6th save of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Tim Eaton? The Chicago right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the White Sox on top, 3-2. For the game, Eaton had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chicago manager Bryce Reigns.
Chicago's record now stands at 36-29, placing them second in the American League Central Division.
