St. Louis Beats Atlanta, 6-4
|
The St. Louis Cardinals topped the Atlanta Braves, 6-4, in National League action at Busch Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of St. Louis pitcher A.J. Burrows. Glen Trecker earned the save for St. Louis, his 7th of the year. The setback makes Atlanta 26-40.
The Braves had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Cardinals going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Danny Lindblom came to the plate. Lindblom hit a grand slam home run on a 2-1 cutter from Atlanta hurler Jon Uribe. It was Lindblom's 5th home run of the year.
Said St. Louis manager Leyland Thomas: "We squared some balls up."
