Rangers Earn 5-3 Win Against Athletics
|
The Texas Rangers clipped the Oakland Athletics, 5-3, in 13 innings at O.co Coliseum. The standout performance belonged to Texas pitcher and Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic, native Danny Cavazos. Cody Dunn, now 1-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The Rangers, at 25-40, sit in 4th place in the American League West Division.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman John Parry came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing Oakland pitcher Bobby Krout, he hit a 2-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Texas on top, 3-2.
"That was your kind of game, if you like high drama," said Rangers manager Stephen Gesualdi.
