Giants 6-2 Losers to Cincinnati
|
The exploits of designated hitter Tom Hedges, who is on pace for 102 RBI this season, helped the Cincinnati Reds defeat the San Francisco Giants, 6-2. Hedges went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Cincinnati reliever Aaron Rosenkranz picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Troy Anderson absorbed the loss. The Reds are now 41-24, while the Giants fall to 26-40.
Jim Hall had a big 3-run home run for the Reds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Troy Anderson and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 6-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager BJ Gorman.
