New York Mets left-hander Matt Lemke pitched a good game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park, leading his team to victory, 6-4. Lemke, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The 'W' lifts New York's record to 31-34.

In the top of the second, 25-year old catcher Thomas Laviosa hit a 2-run home run. The 4th home run of the season for the New York catcher put the Mets on top, 2-0.

"Matt is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said New York manager Rodney Smith.
