Toronto Beats Tampa Bay in Extra Innings
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 6-4, in 13 innings. Toronto first baseman Collin Coleman, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Domingo Tamayo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record is now 4-4. The losses continue to add up for Tampa Bay, which has now fallen 8 times in a row.
Toronto relied on the bat of Greg Whitaker to get the win. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the 13th inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 6-4. For the game, Whitaker had 1 double and 1 home run in 6 at-bats.
Whitaker said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
