Andino Tags Twins for 5 Hits
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-6 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Fernando Andino, it came around today.
The 27-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Target Field to pace the 6-2 Kansas City Royals victory over the Minnesota Twins.
Minnesota skipper Chris Greuling told reporters in the press room that "Andino deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Andino hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Fernando Andino singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
So far on the season, Andino is hitting .355 with 3 home runs, 28 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He has 92 hits and played in 64 games.
