The Montgomery Biscuits powered past the hometown Birmingham Barons, 3-2, in the opener of the Round 1 at Regions Field today. Montgomery starting pitcher Travis Baca threw 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Biscuits now lead the series 1-0.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Zach Grimaldi? The Montgomery shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Biscuits on top, 3-0. For the game, Grimaldi had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We lost," Birmingham manager John Ware said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Regions Field in Birmingham.
