The Birmingham Barons topped the Montgomery Biscuits by the score of 3-1 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Round 1 today. The largest share of the credit belongs to Birmingham starter Victor Peden, who threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball in the win.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Paul Haynes had a chance to do some damage. Montgomery was trailing 3-0, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. Haynes came to the plate against Tony Gomez, and grounded out, driving in 1 run. But it was not enough to complete a Montgomery comeback.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery.
