The Visalia Rawhide and the San Jose Giants needed 12 innings to settle Game 1, with the Rawhide finally taking the 7-6 victory at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Excelling in the win was Visalia pitcher Matt Archambault, who threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The Rawhide and Giants are playing a best-of-5 series.

Archambault, who was born in McCandless Township, Pennsylvania, threw 95 pitches over 7 innings, while allowing 2 runs.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Archambault.
