Quakes Even With Storm After Home Win
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm, 8-5, in Game 2 of the Round 1. Making an impact was designated hitter Israel Valero, who went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The win moves Rancho Cucamonga into a 1-1 tie with Lake Elsinore in the series.

Josh Bayze took Lake Elsinore hurler Matt Cant deep in the bottom of the third. His 3-run home run put the Quakes on top, 5-3. In all, Bayze had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Bayze said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
