Criss Blasts Manatees, Tortugas Take Game 4, 6-5
|
The Daytona Tortugas and the Brevard County Manatees will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation at Space Coast Stadium, the Tortugas beat the Manatees, 6-5, in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Daytona catcher Brian Criss went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
Daytona used the timely hitting of Rey Barajas to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Tortugas on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Criss said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.
