The Lake Elsinore Storm took down the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes by the score of 5-3 and moved into a 1-1 tie in the Round 1. The largest share of the credit belongs to Lake Elsinore starter Javy Gomez, who threw 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball.

Jack Young came through with a big-time hit for Lake Elsinore. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Young told a Lake Elsinore Bulletin reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
