Nationals Handed 5-2 Defeat
Philadelphia pitcher Tom Fetherolf had a large part in his team subduing the Washington Nationals, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Fetherolf got the win, improving to 5-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Phillies now have a record of 26-39 with the win over Washington.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Jouni Ahtisaari had a game-changing hit. The Phillies designated hitter slammed a 2-run single off Andy Gill, making the score 5-2, Philadelphia.

"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Doug Graff. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
