The Connecticut Tigers moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting State College Spikes at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium by a score of 22-4. Tigers shortstop Dario Ambriz did some major damage. He was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The win gives the Tigers a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Matt Garduno helped out the Connecticut cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman was 1-5 with a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.

"We're playing like gangbusters right now," said Ambriz.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 15th , 2109 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in State College.
