Blue Wahoos Escape Smokies in 11, Now Lead Series 2-0
|
When the games really matter, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos put on their best show, beating the Tennessee Smokies by a final score of 6-5. Fumikazu Nakahama threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Pensacola now leads Tennessee 2-0 in the best-of-5 affair.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Pensacola pinch hitter Kelvin Villas, facing Angel Barajas, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Blue Wahoos the 6-5 win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Villas. "You've got to get results."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 12th , 2107 at Smokies Park in Knoxville.
