The Burlington Royals went into extra innings against the Bristol Pirates but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2. The Royals downed the Pirates at Devault Memorial Stadium by a score of 11-4. Burlington right-hander Kyle McDonald had a solid outing. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Royals a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

McDonald was in the zone all game. He frustrated Bristol hitters while giving the Royals 6.1 innings of quality work. McDonald threw 85 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 7 punchouts.

"Kyle was pretty good at keeping their guys off-balance," said Burlington manager Danny Ortiz.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Devault Memorial Stadium in Bristol.
