Mariners Snatch Late Win
|
The Seattle Mariners took Texas pitcher Bernie Gallegos's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The final score had Seattle getting past the Rangers, 3-2. Gallegos went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 2. The winner was Gary Kennedy in relief. His record improves to 7-1. Victor Luna took the loss. Seattle goes to 42-24, Texas to 33-34.
Had Kenny Dahl not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Dahl hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mariners.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Dahl.
