Wild Card Game 1 Victory for Baker and Boston
|
The rookie looked like he belonged out there.
The Boston Red Sox sent 24-year-old right-hander Chris Baker to the mound today for a high-pressure playoff start and he repaid their confidence, quieting the Texas Rangers on a day where the Red Sox struggled to produce runs of their own. In the end, Boston cobbled together enough to take the 2-1 decision. The win gave Boston a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 Wild Card.
Chris Kautz, the 3rd overall pick in the 2096 draft, chipped in for Boston with a solo home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"Feels good to get the job done," Baker said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Globe Life Park in Arlington in Arlington.
