The Aberdeen Ironbirds moved to within one game of the Round 2, downing the visiting Brooklyn Cyclones at Ripken Stadium by a score of 3-2. Ironbirds right-hander Steve McAloon had a strong outing in which he threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Ironbirds a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

Josh Johnson contributed to the Aberdeen win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

"Steve had good arm action, good stuff," said Aberdeen manager Josh Ouderkirk.
