Dodgers Trump Giants, 3-2
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants, 3-2, in National League action at Dodger Park. Los Angeles pitcher Robby Thienes had a standout performance. Thienes, now 4-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Justin Walsh was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Dodgers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when third baseman Jon Williams hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Mario Correa and made the score 1-0, Dodgers. Williams was 1-3 with a walk.
"Well, it's always frustrating to lose," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
Los Angeles occupies second place in the National League West Division at 33-32.
